Referrals are required by some PPOs and HMOs. We believe that you, our patient, should be actively involved in your own health care. The better informed you are about your own health, the better and more effectively we can address your health care concerns. If a referral is required by your insurance company, please obtain a referral form from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) prior to seeing Dr. Davis.

Test Results

If a biopsy, blood work, or an X-ray is performed, we will ask you to call our office in 7 to 10 business days for the results.

Prescription Refills

Prescription renewals are made during office hours (when we have access to your chart) except in emergency situations. Please have your pharmacy fax your refill request to (703) 780-0017.

There may be certain situations when you will need to be seen by the doctor before a prescription can be refilled. Please notify us 2 to 3 days in advance for refills.

Insurance and Billing

Please contact our office to verify acceptance of your insurance plan. Qualifications for insurance coverage may differ due to the uniqueness of each procedure. We are happy to file insurance for your reimbursement as long as you are free to choose your own gastroenterologist.

Accepted Insurance Carriers

Most major insurances accepted

Digestive Healthcare Specialists, LLC participates with most major insurance companies, including Medicare, Aetna, Anthem, CareFirst, United Healthcare and other plans. Please call or visit your insurance company’s website to verify if we participate with your individual plan.

If your insurance plan requires a referral to be seen by a specialist, please contact your primary care provider prior to your appointment date and ask them to transmit via EMR system or fax your referral along with any pertinent medical records to (703) 780-0017.

Be sure to bring your insurance card with you to the visit, as proof of coverage and so that our office staff can make a copy of the card for purposes of billing and records.

If you have a co-pay for specialist visits, you will need to make that payment at the time of your appointment. We accept checks, cash or credit cards for making payments at the time of service. If you are without coverage for your care at our practice, you will need to arrange for payment at the time of your visit.
